Corfield Woods Motorsport Continues Heading in the Right Direction

This past Saturday night, the Corfield Woods Motorsport #44 Matt Young driven machine once again hit the clay way at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway and the team continued to head in the right direction by once again qualifying for the A Main event.
The event was the third round for the 2009/2010 Sprintcar Track Championship. The team started the night in the 21st position during time trials with a lap time of 12.369 seconds. This was good enough to place the team on pole position on the first heat.
“This car is working really well and we seem to be getting more comfortable with the car every week which is showing in time trials as we continue to find more car speed. The front row start is always nice but with the strong competition here at TPCR, it’s never easy,” said Young.
At the completion of the heat races we were 16th on points which qualified the Corfield Woods Motorsport team for their first dash.
“In just our third time out the team has achieved so many good feats, but to make the dash with the calibre of competition here at TPCR is just amazing”, said Gary Corfield, Corfield Woods Motorsport team owner.
Matt started out of the eighth position and finished eighth in the race.
The team started out of the 16th position in the night’s main event. Prior to the commencement of the A Main, team crew chief’s Peter Woods and Lee Walker made a decision to try some new things with the setup. Once the A Main had started, Matt had begun to make good ground by running the bottom of the race track, where the car had liked to run with the setup. Unfortunately, during the early stages of the race, we got caught up in an incident which resulted in damage to the left rear wheel. This resulted in a bad vibration through the car and a slight brake issue causing Matt difficulty to drive the car into the corner correctly. Matt then pulled in to save any further damage to the car.
“As a team we learnt a lot tonight with changes we made to the car going in to the A-main. The car felt great to drive. It’s a shame that we didn’t complete the 30 lap A-main, but we will be back next week for another shot.” said Young.
Once again team owner, Gary Corfield, was happy with the team’s progress.
“We have come out here and have made significant improvements from the last event. Matt’s learning the art of Sprintcar racing at a very fast pace. I’m also thrilled that the team has the ability to work well as a team. Hats off to them all: Peter, Lee, Darren and Ryan for a job well done”, said Corfield.
Corfield Woods Motorsport will hit the track again next weekend for the re-run of the first round rain out.
Corfield Woods Motorsport would also like to thank sponsors: G&S Bulk Haulage, Corfield Media Solutions, Vortex Racing Products, Sensible Business Solutions, Watsons Express Transport, Hungry Jacks, JD Electrical, and Racetec Seats for their continued support of the team.
