Saturday, October 31st was the second full night of Sprintcar competition for Matt Young in the Corfield Woods Motorsport #44 machine. The team was 11th quick in time trials with a time of 12.961 seconds.
“This is definitely the way that we wanted to start the night off. I wanted to put round 1 at TPCR behind us with what happened during the heat race and I believe that this is the perfect start to doing just that,” said Young.
This round of racing used the fastest to the rear format with two heats and no dashes. Matt’s first heat seen him start out of the seventh position and ended up finishing ninth.
Heat 6, Matt started seventh and finished seventh. This result provided the amount of points needed to see the team to start out of 18th in the night’s feature race. As the A Main started, the team was moving forward however a large lump of clay came into the car and landed under the accelerator pedal, which forced Matt to pull in for the night.
“A slight driver error tonight caused the car to get above the cushion up in the rough. It’s a shame that the mud got stuck where it did. I persisted for two laps to see if could get the car around with the problem I had, However, I am glad I made the right decision to bring the car in and not cause any un-necessary damage to myself or others. Once again the team provided me with a great car through the nite.
“Matt continually impresses me with his driving ability. I just wish it was next Saturday again as I am eager to see what we will do next”, remarked Corfield Woods Motorsport, team owner Gary Corfield.
Corfield Woods Motorsport would like to thank sponsors: G&S Bulk Haulage, Corfield Media Solutions, Vortex Racing Products and Sensible Business Solutions for their continued support of the team.
